February 7, 2021

OK, its time to start thinking about the local elections for Nov 2021. It looks like the pandemic should be under control by this Summer and I encourage everyone to get the vaccine as soon as it is made available to you. I hope to get my first shot this week at the VA, that is if the snow isn't too bad that day and they don't cancel my appointment.

Back to running in this year's local elections. If the Independent Party has not run in the local elections in your town yet and you want to put a ticket together please E-mail me on this site and we will see what needs to be done to help you get on the ballot.

The Republican Party is having a bit of a melt down Nation wide with the Trump
Loyalist still hanging on to Trump and the thought that he won the election even though the rest of the Country has moved on with a New President and accepted the ruling of the Courts. Of course the Senate trial this week on his impeachment will do more damage to the membership of their party. Already more than 8,000 Republicans in CT have left the Party and a lot of them have joined the Independent Party so we will see how the outcome of the trial affects the rest of them.

The Independent Party will continue to stand for Truth, Honesty and the Rule of Law.

I will be posting more updates soon because the Independent Party is on the move.

Due to the continuing statewide effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and by a majority vote of the Independent Party of CT State Central Committee members, a resolution was submitted and approved to forgo the regular  endorsement caucus for State Senators, State Representatives and other local and state offices in and around the State of CT normally conducted by the Independent Party of CT State Central Committee regarding the November 3, 2020 election.

To:
We will nominate all candidates who are members of our party who meet our requirements to be a good candidate, who are unopposed by any other possible candidate from our Party for that office by a vote of the State Central Committee (SCC). If there are more than one possible candidate who meet that criteria and a caucus is needed to determine who the candidate will be, The SCC will make a time and a place available for that event.
We may consider any candidate who is not a member of our party but wishes to seek our endorsement who is not currently a candidate for another Party for that same office under the same terms and conditions.
We will only accept candidates who are already on the ballot with another Party as our possible candidates if we do not have a candidate of our own for that office.
All possible candidates must come forward to the SCC by August 11th so that we will have time to hold any caucuses that may still be required before the State imposed deadline of Sept 2nd.
If any caucuses will still be required because there are more than one possible candidate for that office, they will be held under these terms:
There will not be any nominating or seconding from the floor for any candidate, instead there will be a requirement of getting at least two votes cast for the candidate at the ballot which will serve the same purpose. All possible candidates are required to come forward by the August 11th deadline to the SCC by notice filed on our web site IndependentpartyofCT.com.
We will set a time and a place for all eligible voters to show and cast their vote in a safe manner for all concerned.
The time and place for all contested caucuses will be posted on our web site and with the SOTS and in the newspaper in a timely manner as required by state stature.

As stated in our earlier July 21, 2020 resolution:
“All possible candidates must come forward to the SCC by August 11th so that we will have time to hold any caucuses that may still be required before the State imposed deadline of Sept 2nd.”
We have no contested nominations for any race that would be between any two or more Independent Party members that have come forward by the stated date of August 11th 2020 so we will not have a reason to hold any caucuses in any district where we are running our own candidate.
The only contested districts are those where both the endorsed Democratic candidate for that district and the endorsed Republican candidate for that district have both asked to be considered for a cross-endorsement.
Because of the ongoing public health concerns and the fact that they will both be on the ballot regardless what we do; we feel that the best way to resolve who will get our Independent Party endorsement would be to have those candidates asking for a cross-endorsement answer a questionnaire and compare their answers to how the Independent Party State Central Committee members also answer the same questions. The Candidate who most closely reflex the consensus of the State Central Committee will get our endorsement.Michael TelescaMichael Telesca, ChairmanIndependent Party of CT
